Biographies Nina Cassian (1924-2014)

Nina Cassian was born in Galaţi, Romania in 1924. Exiled from Romania in 1985, she eventually became an American citizen. Cassian published more than 50 books of her own poetry—her English language collections include Life Sentence: Selected Poems (1990), Take my Word for it (1998), and Continuum (2008). She also wrote children’s books and translated Shakespeare, Moliere and Bertolt Brecht. Nina Cassian died in 2014.
