Biographies Joseph Kerman (1924-2014)

Joseph Kerman was born in London in 1924. A prominent critic, musicologist, and the author of several books, including Contemplating Music: Challenges to Musicology (1985), he was Professor Emeritus of Musicology at the University of California, Berkeley, and held the Charles Eliot Norton Memorial Chair at Harvard University from 1997 to 1998. He was elected as an honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in 1972 and was a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Kerman died in 2014.
