Andrei Voznesenskii was born in Moscow in 1933. He is an internationally renowned Russian and Soviet poet with more than two dozen collections of poetry, many of which have been translated into English. During his life he was honored with the USSR State Prize, an Order of Merit for the Fatherland, and honorary membership to more than 10 academies around the world. He died in 2010.
