Craig Raine was born in Bishop Aukland, England in 1944. He is the author of 11 poetry collections, including The Onion, Memory (1972); History: The Home Movie (1994); and How Snow Falls (2010). He has taught at a number of colleges and universities, including Exeter College and Oxford University. Raine is also the founder and editor of the literary magazine Aretè, to which he frequently contributes. He lives in Oxford, where he has been a fellow of New College, Oxford, since 1991.
