Leslie Ullman was born in Illinois in 1947. The author of four collections of poetry, her first book, Natural Histories (1979), received the Yale Younger Poets prize. Another collection, Slow Work Through Sand (1998), was co-winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize. Ullman’s most recent book is Progress on the Subject of Immensity (2013). She is the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and currently teaches at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Ullman lives in New Mexico.
