Lynn Emanuel was born in Mt. Kisco, New York, in 1949. The author of six poetry collections, her book The Nerve of It: Poems New and Selected (2015) won the 2016 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, and Then, Suddenly (1999) was awarded the Eric Matthieu King Award from the Academy of American Poets. Emanuel is the recipient of two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and a fellowship from the Civitella Ranieri Foundation. She lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she is a professor of English and creative writing at the University of Pittsburgh.
