Biographies Herbert Mason (1932-2017)

Herbert Mason, a writer and translator, was Professor Emeritus of Religion at Boston University, specializing in Arabic and Islamic studies. He published numerous volumes of poetry, translations, and scholarly work. His best-known work, Gilgamesh, A Verse Narrative (1971), was nominated for the National Book Award. Mason lived in Newbury, Massachusetts, until his death in 2017.
