Tim O’Brien

Tim O’Brien was born in Austin, Minnesota in 1946. He is the author of nine novels, including Going After Cacciato (1978), winner of the National Book Award, The Things They Carried (1990), and In the Lake of the Woods (1994). He received the Dayton Literary Peace Prize lifetime achievement award and the Pritzker Military Library Literature Award. A faculty member for the MFA Program at Texas State University-San Marcos, O’Brien currently lives in central Texas.
