Marilyn Chin was born in Hong Kong in 1955 and raised in Portland, Oregon. A poet, translator, and novelist, she is the author of seven books, including Rhapsody in Plain Yellow (2002) and Revenge of the Mooncake Vixen: A Novel (2009). Chin has been honored with awards from the Rockefeller Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. She has received a Stegner Fellowship, the PEN/Josephine Miles Award, the Paterson Prize, and a Fulbright Fellowship to Taiwan. She lives in San Diego where she co-directs the MFA program at San Diego State University.
