Biographies David Mura (1952-)

David Mura was born in 1952 and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He is the author of four poetry collections, including After We Lost Our Way (1989), winner of the National Poetry Contest; The Colors of Desire (1995), winner of the Carl Sandburg Literary Award; and The Last Incantations (2014). Mura has also written two memoirs, including Turning Japanese: Memoirs of a Sansei (1991), winner of the Josephine Miles Book Award and listed as a New York Times Book of the Year. He has taught at the University of Minnesota, the University of Oregon, St. Olaf College, and The Loft Literary Center. Mura currently lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
