Thylias Moss was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1954. She is the author of eight poetry collections, including Rainbow Remnants in Rock Bottom Ghetto Sky (1991), Last Chance for the Tarzan Holler (1999), and Tokyo Butter (2006). Her honors include the Witter Bynner Award for Poetry, the Whiting Award, and Dewar’s Profiles Performance Award, as well as fellowships from the MacArthur Foundation and the Guggenheim Foundation. Moss has been a professor at the University of Michigan since 1993.
