Ann W. Hafen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1893. She published numerous poems and story collections, and also collaborated with her husband LeRoy Hafen on many articles and historical books. Her books include Campfire Frontier—New Stories of the Old West (1946), Colorado: The Story of the State and its People (1953) (with LeRoy Hafen), and Handcarts to Zion (1960) (with LeRoy Hafen). She was president of the Poetry Society of Colorado, and started the Colorado Poetry Fellowship. She died in 1970.
